講師：Paula R. Curtis
Paula R. Curtisは日本中世史の研究者である。彼女は現在カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校（UCLA）のテラサキ日本研究センターにて歴史学のポスドク研究員兼講師として勤務している。Curtis博士はいくつかのオンラインプロジェクトを共同で運営しており、これには Digital Humanities Japan Initiativeや、東アジア研究に関連したデジタルリソースや求人情報のオンラインデータベース、またブログ What can I do with a B.A. in Japanese Studies などが含まれる。
Paula R. Curtis is a historian of medieval Japan. She is presently a Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer in History with the Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies at UCLA. Dr. Curtis collaborates in several online projects, including the Digital Humanities Japan initiative, online databases for digital resources, employment opportunities related to East Asia, and the blog What can I do with a B.A. in Japanese Studies.

この講演でCurtis博士は、北米における取り組みに焦点を当て、デジタル日本研究の現状を概説します。日本／日本語を対象とした学術研究とデジタル的方法論・デジタル技術が交差する場において、近年どのようなイベント、プロジェクト、出版、雇用、またコミュニティ構築がなされてきたのかを議論します。
In this talk, Dr. Curtis will survey the current state of the Digital Japanese Studies field, with a focus on North American opportunities and initiatives. She will discuss recent events, projects and publications, hiring, and sites of community building at the intersection of academic research on Japan/Japanese and digital methods and technologies.

1976年福岡県生まれ。歴史資料のデジタル化と共有の手法、歴史学を中心とする人文科学系学問の手法の情報化等に興味をもつ。正倉院文書のデジタル化などの研究を中心に行ってきた。現在は国立歴史民俗博物館で、日本の地域歴史資料をデジタル化し、それらを用いた研究と、地域歴史文化の継承などを地域の人々とともに進める研究に従事している。
また、人文社会学系の研究評価についての検討にも関わる。
